Dryden Filmmakers have some really fun news today!

First, the Daily Herald came to visit the art room on Tuesday to take some behind the scene pictures of Ms. Quick's 4th graders to put together a story about filmmaking. They caught us working on an online video contest sponsored by Smart Technologies. We hope to enter in their contest to win a Smartboard for the students' classroom.

Secondly, Mrs. Barringer's 5th graders have
WON A NATIONAL VIDEO CONTEST!

We heard that they were finalists for their movie,
21st Century Tools, in the
"Be and All-Star Video Contest" hosted by 21st Century Connections
back in April... but now it was announced that they came in
first place in their age category in this national video contest!

Rotoball is an international collaborative animation project created by high school art teacher David Gran in Shanghai, China. A group of our Dryden 3rd graders created a 15 second entry for this project. This tiny animation took over 2 months of recesses to create. The 3rd graders drew 79 frames of animation. This will get pieced together with other student work from around the globe to make one movie. Each entry has the "rotoball" entering from the left, transforming, and exiting to the right. The final movie will be screened at the Shanghai Student Film Festival April 18th.

Dryden will be participating! Look at the DOODLE EXAMPLES and READ about the prizes! All finished artwork is due to Mrs. Fuglestad by April 1st. Only six pieces can be sent into Google from our school so a committee will chose the winners and ask them to write a short description to accompany their art and fill out a permission form. officially released for all to enjoy!
Congratulations to Dryden's 4th Grade Filmmakers!

Swept Away is the tragic story of what happens when art supplies are left on the floor at the end of art class. This original musical movie was filmed, directed, performed, and edited by Dryden 4th Graders in memory of all the art supplies that have ever been needlessly swept away.
